Stories from Palestine

When you know that there’s more to a story than what you have been told, more than what you have read and seen from a distance, what do you do? Journalist and scholar Marda Dunsky researched and wrote a book.

Stories from Palestine: Narratives of Resilience was published March 2021.

Stories from Palestine: Narratives of Resilience is published! Excerpt here.

Palestinians are productive and creative and aspire to lives of freedom and dignity like people around the world.

Dunsky listened to women and men who are farmers, scientists, writers, cultural innovators, educators, and entrepreneurs as they shared details of their daily lives and worldviews. Using their own words, she shows their resourcefulness.

The farmers include two fair trade farmers from the PFTA, from Ti’innik and Faqqu’a, and the social entrepreneurial firm Canaan Fair Trade. You see the tremendous human potential of this society as fair trade emphasizes their human dignity under extraordinary pressure.

While media and policy represent Palestinians merely as victims of oppression and/or perpetrators of violence, Dunsky shows their humanity. Stories from Palestine creates a new space to consider Palestinians and peace.

In an era of conflict and divisiveness, Palestinian resilience is relatable to people everywhere. When the day comes that they can take their place on the world stage, they will have so much to contribute.
