Scott Kennedy comes home

Scott Kennedy Memorial Scholarship Fund at EyeWitness Palestine

Scott Kennedy loved Canaan Fair Trade and the PFTA, and they loved him. Scott lead an Interfaith Peace-Builders Olive Harvest Delegation to Palestine in November 2011 and spoke at the Jarou'a, the traditional olive harvest festival, to hundreds of Palestinian farmers and international guests. It was to be his last of many trips to Palestine; he died gently in his sleep at home in California the next week.

Scott had a profound commitment to peace in Palestine, combined with a joy of life, and we miss him fiercely. Now he has come back to Palestine. His family sent some of his ashes, and they were scattered with love under the olive trees at Canaan in Burqin, just before the Jaru'a on 1 November 2013. Scott, you will continue to be a part of the farmer community in Palestine you loved so much.

UPDATE: Scott Kennedy led more than three dozen delegations to Palestine from the 1970's till his death in 2011. He was a founder of Interfaith Peace-Builders (now EyeWitness Palestine) and often raised money for young and low-income activists to join the delegations he lead. Now IFPB has named their scholarship fund in Scott's honor so they can continue the important work he pioneered. IFPB annually gives out thousands of dollars in scholarships to those in need of financial aid to join a delegation. The Olive Harvest delegation visits the Palestine Fair Trade Association and stays with our fair trade farmers.
