Take what you need…

Hundreds of thousands of us are in the streets. We want to protest police violence against Black Americans and police militarization. But this is coronavirus time. Some of us can’t march although we are as committed to Black liberation as we are to Palestinian liberation. Indeed, they are connected.

Palestinians have learned in crisis to gather their collective strength through solidarity. Mutual aid is second nature to them. They are resilient, compassionate - and still defiant. We can learn this community spirit from them.

With sincere Palestinian generosity, the sign says: take what you need

Monica from LOCF realized that not only is money for food an issue during this crisis. Living in food deserts means people can’t get healthy food. This disproportionately affects communities of color. Food justice is very much racial justice.

She is sharing produce and seedlings from her garden with her neighbors and anyone passing by.

She says “I am grateful for the inspiration that helped me work my way through the collective despair by sharing what I have in the spirit of generosity that I have found only in Palestine.”
